SALVADOR 1896 DIE IMPERFORATE PROOFS
These stamps were first issued in 1896. They were recess printed by the Hamilton Bank Note Company, and a die proof of the unfinished design for the vignette is shown above. The papers used for this issue was both watermarked(multiple Cap of Liberty) and unwatermarked, with example of both being shown including imperforate file copies. The "yellow" versions were first issued on 1st. January, 1897, and are hopelessly indistinct to the naked eye.
